This week we saw the fifth Sunrise bake-off for 2015, the team at Sunrise put on their creative (witches) hats and pulled out all the stops to bring in a wide selection of sweet bakes for their colleagues to taste and judge. With ten bakes on offer, there was no shortage of options, from Chocolate Snot Cakes to Marshmallow Monsters, there was something for everyone.
To get people into the Halloween spirit we invited staff to come dressed in their Halloween finest, and although it is fair to say that full-blown Halloween attire was thin on the ground, it was great to see the Halloween themed t-shirts, headdresses and Tarnia, Sunrise Customer Account Manager, in her witches sparkle!
Tasting and voting began at 11am, with eager team members queued up ready to start eating. Images of all the cakes were also shared on our social media pages so that others could get involved by voting on their favourite decorations. The day quickly passed in a blur of sugar and icing, it was time to close the voting. With so many amazing bakes it was going to be a close call on who would take home the prizes…..
With all the votes counted the results were in, and they were both worthy winners…..
First place for best tasting bake was……. Tarnia Nebbitt for her pumpkin chai muffins
First place for best decorated was….. Nathan Rhodes for his Spooktacular Tray Bake
Extra credit has to be given to Nathan, who is the son of Sunrise’s Credit Controller and the youngest entrant in our bake off! The Sunrise Bake Off has been great fun over the past ten months and we look forward to the final one that takes place on the 15th December, but judging by the number of sugar headaches that were going on at the end of this bake off, I am guessing that next time there will be more savoury bakes then sweet ones.
