67 percent year-on-year growth as organisations embrace browser-based ITSM
Chessington, UK – 22 April, 2008 Sunrise Software, the IT service desk software provider, has experienced record growth over the last year for Sostenuto, its browser-based ITSM (IT service management) tool. Sales in the first quarter of 2008 were up 67 per cent on the same quarter last year. This continues to build on the success of a record 2007.
While analysts suggest that many organisations are ‘tightening their belts’ in anticipation of this year’s credit crunch and predicted recession, Sunrise has been able to buck the trend and make impressive sales. Tom Weston, executive chairman at Sunrise, believes the company’s success is down to organisations understanding that keeping IT up and running effectively is vital to business success.
“Businesses know they need to invest in good ITSM to keep mission-critical systems working, and, at the same time, are seeking solutions with low set up costs and infrastructure requirements,” said Weston. “As such, they’re willing to embrace the browser-based model for ITSM, as it removes the need for complex integration work.”
Weston continued: “Since we launched Sostenuto in 2003, the mood has changed from an interest in evaluating this style of software delivery, to a keenness to embrace it. IT support that can be accessed and delivered via the web is undoubtedly the future of effective IT service management.”
Sunrise Software’s customers echo Weston’s views. Heather Binkle, project manager for the North Mersey Health Informatics Service, commented: “Because Sostenuto is web-based, we were able to run it across five service desk sites and allow access for our technical support staff from over 60 sites in the region. It was also by far the most cost effective option compared to its competitors. Feedback has been excellent, and even the most reluctant users admitted that within the first day Sostenuto offered an improvement in how we managed the incident process.”
Sunrise has now added graphical reporting functionality to Sostenuto, to be unveiled at the Service Desk and IT Support Show 2008. This will enable service desk managers to view visual reports on their dashboard. Based on technology from ClickView, this will make it even easier to see and evaluate the performance of a service desk, further adding to Sostenuto’s appeal.
