Corporate Social Responsibility Policy

Here at Sunrise, we take pride in not just running a business, but doing so with a deep commitment to making a positive impact on society. Corporate social responsibility is all about businesses being responsible for their actions and going the extra mile to make sure those actions have a positive impact on the world around them. It's like having a set of guidelines that nudge us to be ethical champions, considering human rights, and weighing the social, economic, and environmental effects of our every move.

Equal Opportunity

Wellbeing and Equal Opportunities

At Sunrise Software, we're all about creating an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. At Sunrise, ensuring the well-being of our employees is a top priority, and we take it seriously. We've implemented a robust health and safety policy that underscores our dedication to creating a secure and healthy work environment.

When it comes to anti-slavery and human trafficking, we proudly uphold the principles of the Human Rights Act 2010 and adhere to the Modern Slavery Act of 2015, ensuring transparency in our operations and supply chains. Click here to read our full Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy.

We're committed to providing equal opportunities in employment and to avoiding unlawful discrimination in employment and against customers. Our equal opportunities policy helps put this commitment into practice.  Our pledge to equal opportunities means we steer clear of any unlawful discrimination, harassment, or bullying.

We strongly believe in fostering growth and development, especially through our apprenticeship programmes. We recognise the value of investing in the next generation and are committed to providing opportunities for learning and skill development. Our apprenticeship initiatives reflect our belief in hands-on experience, mentorship, and continuous learning.

Environmental Responsibility

Sunrise is committed to conducting its business in a manner that ensures a safe and healthy workplace for its employees and minimises its potential impact on the environment. We comply with all relevant and applicable environmental legislation and other requirements, and where practicable, minimise any adverse environmental impacts that may result from its operations.

In implementing this policy, we aim to:

  • Consider the direct environmental impacts of our operations, including offices, staff travel, and the procurement of materials and services.
  • Work with our clients and the supply chain to identify and mitigate the environmental impacts associated with our services and projects.
  • Reduce waste through re-use and recycling and by purchasing recycled, recyclable or refurbished products and materials where these alternatives are available, economical and suitable.
  • Where possible, prevent pollution from delivery of our services and projects.
  • Monitor, measure and communicate the environmental performance of our activities in order to drive continual improvement in areas of significant risk and opportunity.
  • Strive to continually improve our environmental performance and minimise the social impact and damage of activities by periodically reviewing our environmental policy in light of our current and planned future activities.

Achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2030

We're passionate about embracing sustainability, and our commitment to the environment is crystal clear: we're on a mission to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. How are we going to make it happen? By laying out a roadmap that charts our course and setting annual goals that keep us accountable.

Our focus for 2024:

Firstly, we'll conduct a thorough carbon footprint assessment to pinpoint our emissions, enabling us to focus on reduction efforts. Building on this, we'll craft a detailed carbon reduction strategy, identifying key areas like energy, travel, and waste. Through practical steps, we'll reduce energy consumption, from upgrading equipment to smart office technologies. A sustainable transportation policy will encourage electric or hybrid vehicles and public transport for business travel. Strengthening partnerships, we'll collaborate with suppliers committed to sustainability and explore sourcing sustainable materials. It's a holistic plan to minimise our environmental impact and stride towards carbon neutrality.

Giving back

At Sunrise, we're not just about business; we're about making a positive impact beyond the boardroom. Our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility extends to supporting and raising awareness for charities close to our hearts. From the British Heart Foundation to the Alzheimer's Society, Macmillan Cancer Support, and Cats Protection, we stand by these organisations and their vital missions.

But we don't stop there – we're all in when it comes to our employees' personal initiatives for fundraising. Because at Sunrise, we believe in doing good, together. It's not just business; it's a way of making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
